A furnace is a very important piece of equipment in any home. As such, it is important to ensure that it is working well at all times. Part of achieving this goal involves regularly cleaning and maintaining various parts of the equipment in good condition. When the equipment is not cleaned well, it starts to use more gas, oil, or electricity, leading to higher maintenance costs. It also becomes increasingly inefficient. When in need of oil furnace cleaning PA should be visited.

Various parts of oil furnaces need to be cleaned in order for them to work well. Even though it is important to keep every component clean, there are three main parts that if not cleaned, the functioning of the equipment is impaired. These three parts are the filter system, heat exchanger, and the blower. If dirt is left to accumulate on these parts for too long, efficiency is highly affected.

The lifespan of the equipment is usually dependent on how clean these components are kept. For one to be able to clean the three components properly, one needs some prior knowledge so as to avoid damaging them during cleaning. To clean the filter and blower fan, one should begin by finding the access panel. This component is usually located on the outside of the furnace.

The access panel is fixed between the blower system and the return-air duct in many models. The duct is situated above the panel while the blower system is on the lower side. On the front side of the furnace, there is the filter. One has to remove the panel first before accessing the filter. The filter may also have its own door. However, one should always ensure the power is off before doing any of these activities.

The filter should be removed from the equipment to be cleaned properly. There should not be any problem with the filter sliding out. After pulling it out, it should be thoroughly inspected to check for presence of dirt and damages. The first step is to remove visible loose debris on the surface.

Once all the loose dirt particles have been removed, tap water mixed with mild soap should be used to clean the remaining dirt. After all dirt has been removed, the filter should be rinsed using clean water and allowed to dry adequately. If there is any visible damage to the filter, it should be replaced if it is a disposable model.

The next step is to clean the blower assembly, which will require one to remove the entire front panel. There may be screws that hold the panel in place that need to be unscrewed. In case the panel is held in place by hinges instead of screws, they should be opened. One should slide the fan out of its compartment to be cleaned.

The fan is help on tracks and may be connected by a wire to the rest of the equipment. The fan and the blower assembly should also be cleaned using water and mild soap. Fan blades and spaces between them can be cleaned better using a toothbrush. The same process should be used to clean the heat exchanger.
