Insects can be a huge nuisance if they exist in large number in a residential compound or any compound for that matter. As such, various approaches have been formulated to keep them in check along with their activities. One such approach involves the use of insect spray systems, which are also referred to as misters. These systems are very useful and an increasing number of homeowners is obtaining and installing them.

Misters still face strict regulation in many nations although they are common. For example, in USA, the EPA regulates most aspects of these units. As a result, numerous regulations on the time and the way these systems must be used have been formulated. When these laws are broken, individuals normally find themselves in trouble. It is vital to have sufficient knowledge about the rules before installing misters.

One should consider seriously the service technician and the installer hired to do the installation process. It is advisable for one to hire services of a well-trained technician to perform the task. They must have the required level of training and experience. In other terms, the services of the installer must comply with the state registration, license requirements, and certification.

Secondly, one must ensure that the installer calibrates the system correctly in order to only emit the quantity of pesticide needed. Often, one should not exceed the set daily limit. The pesticide is labelled with information regarding the maximum application limit as far as quantity goes. Third parties and neighbors may sue one for exceeding the set limit.

The nozzle needs to face in the right direction too and one should ensure that it does. For example, it is not allowed for the nozzle to emit the sprays in the direction where people rest, eat, or cook from. Other directions the nozzle is not needed to face are in the direction of swimming pools, fish ponds and other water bodies. This is because it may result in both contamination and pollution.

Nozzles that are placed very high from the ground usually lead to chemical drift. This is where the chemical is carried to other places by air or wind. Chemical drift usually cause the pesticide to affect people and animals in other places away from where the pesticide is supposed to act. To minimize this effect, nozzles should be installed at a height of less than 10 feet from the ground.

Spray systems may endanger little children at home. Kids are likely to engage in undesirable activities or open pesticide supply tanks if they find them. That is why the supply tank should be kept away from reach of children and under key and lock. Various health problems serious may result when pesticides are inhaled in huge quantities.

Such incidences can be avoided by having pesticide supplies stored in a secure place under key and lock. All adults in the home should be informed about the system so that they know how to act. In case of emergency situations, one should have the contact information of all relevant sources of help at hand, including the police, doctors, and installers.
