If you are thinking of having a break somewhere, going to a beach is an option. You might want to go there to catch the waves of the ocean. Another option is going to somewhere peaceful and beautiful where you can enjoy the beauty of its scenery or the calmness of the lakes. If you want to get in shape, you might want to have a fast pace paddle in a calm lake.

To do the activities mentioned above, you might need a board. Choosing the best and most appropriate one is the first and most important step to having a perfect getaway. If you already bought one like the paddle board Maui, you probably made one of the best decisions in your entire life. Not only you will enjoy the dip or splash in the waters but also have your body in a good form.

There are five kinds of boards. The first three are SUP while the other two are regular boards. Take note that SUP means stand up paddle boards, which will be focused in this article. These include surfing, touring, and inflatable. The other two are the racing and yoga boards.

To have a best choice of SUP, you must have a knowledge on its types. It is very important to note of the varied functions each kind has. That board may be appropriate for this activity but not for the other activity. That may be suitable or unsuitable for your preferences.

Surfing SUP, as its name speaks for itself, is solely for surfing. Its narrow, light, and short body structure makes its stability lower compared to other types. Thus, it is very ideal for high performance turns and ocean wave riding but not ideal for long distance paddling.

The touring SUP is the common one. Aside from its function intended for tourists, almost all functions are incorporated in it. That is why it is known as a multipurpose stand up paddle board. Its stability is greater or higher since it is heavier and wider in structure and larger in volume, making it safer and better for those who wants to try paddling for the first time.

The last one is the inflatable. If you are someone who rents a room or owns a car to store large boards, this one is perfect for you for this lessens your burden created by such situation. It is easier to transport and much lighter unlike the regular ones. However, wave riding in a river using this will be more challenging but doable, provided that the condition is light, since you have to sacrifice the stiffness of the regular board.

After knowing the type, consider the body or hull type. This can help you determine how it functions in the water or how it is used. It depends on what activity or sport you are going to do. As to choosing between inflatable or solid, the storage and portability must be taken into consideration.

To be sure of a safe paddling experience, choose a board with capacity that is right for your weight and height. Doing so can ensure you of a good stability. Consider also its length, thickness and width as these play a big role in determining its performance. After checking on to these aspects, you may also take into consideration the accessories or other parts that may work for you and the board.
