Since gardeners are exposed to so many seasons, they need to be on top of their game and plan for this during the year. You need to know how to prepare the garden from one season to the next. This is another thing to take into consideration when you are planning the initial landscape. Any landscaper will tell you this when they are providing you with seasonal gardening tips.

For example, you may find that you need to pull out weeds and do general clearing up during the fall. If you neglect to do this, you will find that there is a lot more to do when the winter is over. You need to make sure that there are no branches hanging over the windows.

In some areas, this could cause dangerous accidents to occur. You will need to make sure the drains are not clogged. These practical issues are just as important as the basic appeal of the garden. Of course, one wants a garden that makes you feel relaxed and is pleasing to look at, but you have to consider these practicalities at different times of the year.

This is why it is best to prepare your garden in the early winter period or even in fall. You need the right kind of soil and nutrients. You will find that there are winter herbs and lettuces that you can introduce into the garden during these times.

People need to decide what they want out of their garden. This can depend on your lifestyle and how much time you are prepared to spend in the garden. Not everyone wants to spend hours in the vegetable garden, preparing this for a new season. You may find that you just want to come back from the office and relax. In a case like this, many people will opt for hardscaping instead of the conventional lawn or flower bed option.

This can look just as good. Maintenance is kept to a minimum. You can even opt for a roll on lawn which is practical for kids and is also realistic. Remember that when you have a garden, you not only have to change the soil and the plants. You also have to go outside once in awhile and deal with the pests and the weeds. This is just par for the course of this time of the year.

During Spring, you can decide how you want to change things around. You may want to leave the garden and patio as it is. Some people decide to make a few changes, as they prepare for the summer period. You need to make sure that your soil is still healthy and you are ready to plant something which will take off immediately. You may also decide to opt for a water feature which is perfect for the summer time.

You also have to lay down fertilizer on the lawn. However, some people may not have much to do when there is more hardscaping present. It can be a case of clearing out the pond or the fountain. You may want to repaint some of the containers and add a solar light or a new feature which would also make a difference in the garden.
