This process entails cleaning or etching a surface using abrasive material. It is done under high pressure and force. This method is done to roughen or smooth surface. It is also used to remove contaminants from a surface. It may also be used to shape the surface in question to suit personal preferences of the worker. The use of propelled air and use of centrifugal wheel makes it possible to propel water and abrasive at a high pressure. Here is information regarding Tampa pressure washing.

There are various types of mediums that can be used in this process. This abrasives can be categorized in to two groups namely the highly abrasive ones and the mild type. The highly abrasive ones are shot with metal or sand abrasives. The mild ones include surfaces such as glass they can be shot at with beads.

There are different categories of sandblasting of which the wet sandblasting and bead sandblasting which are the commonly used methods. The wet sand blasting entails the use of hot water and soap. In this process there is the continuous blasting and degreasing at the same time removing the dust that usually sticks on the surfaces being blasted. This method is considered as a safe method compared to the dry sandblasting which was banned in some countries as per the risks involved process.

This saves on the blasting time hence making work easier. The process can also handle an array of mediums and it has the ability to use extremely fine or course media. This products are used to radioactive or other poisonous products from components and structures hence decontaminating the surfaces. It is applied in various products such as walk in booths among others.

Dry sandblasting used to destroy surfaces unlike this wet blasting, which is more advantageous. The surface is prevented from damaging since water acts as a lubricant. In some cases, the surface is damaged since it only reduces the chances of risk but not completely preventing it.

The other advantage of this method is that the surfaces are cleaned in the process hence there is no cleaning after the process. There is also the complete removal of contaminations and foreign materials from the surfaces. In this method there is better bonding between the abrasive material and the surfaces is better than that of the dry sandblasting. In the wet method only ones abrasive is used unlike in the dry where several abrasives will be used. There is no water and the surfaces are easily contaminated.

The process uses a blast equipment to carry out the task. There are of different types namely the portable equipment, blast cabinet or blast room. The portable equipment is usually powered by an air compressor that provides either large or small volumes blasts. They can be continuous or single blasts.

However there are risks that one is to be ready to take during this operation. These are both the healthy risks and the safety risks as there can be various accidents that may occur during the process. These may be like the falling of people due to the abrasives scattered on the ground. The process involves is dusty and can cause a lot of accidents to the blasters.
