Wigs or temporary hairpieces are not the only way to get a new hairstyle the fast and painless way. New ways of applying tresses that look more natural and less stiff than before allow for many different styles. The popularity of tape in hair extensions comes from an easy application and none of the bulkiness that came with previous methods, which also meant sitting in a salon chair for a while.

There are like a hybrid of the bonding method and lacefront wig. Installation is easy and everything flows like a healthy mane should. However, there is no need to braid the hair underneath and heat is not needed to secure the weft.

There are a wide variety of styles from which to choose, along with hair colors. Anyone who wants to go from dark to light or straight to curly without chemical will find these extensions easy and without discomfort. This also reduces the risk of skin allergies that come with coloring ingredients.

In relation to types, this method is does not require braiding or use of a net cap. It is ideal for anyone who wants more volume that looks believable. Coarse hair types can use this but like bonding, it is best done by a professional so that it is not detectable.

One factor that may come into question is lifestyle. People who are athletic or sweat a lot may find that they have to shampoo more often than before. While dry shampoo may save some time or be done sparingly, the hair underneath will benefit from a rich lather and water. The extra time will prevent mold that can result from the excess moisture that can get trapped between the scalp and tape.

Dry shampoo may work for the extensions but eventually, the tresses underneath will need a vigorous massage and cleaning. Also, the drying time of this type of extension can be longer for those who usually air dry. One solution would be to wrap all hair in a turban designed for fast drying, followed by using a blow dryer with low heat.

If a person has dry hair, a heavy conditioner or scalp oil will loosen the weft so it is best to remove during hot oil or deep conditioning treatments. One good way to retain moisture levels is to spray with a leave in conditioner or lightweight oil such as jojoba. Remember also that dry or brittle hair is the mostly likely to break so it is important to remove weft after a few weeks.

Nighttime preparation is essential to keeping all hair looking new. Braids or ponytails help prevent hair from getting matted or tangled. Wearing a silk cap or head wrap to bed may also be helpful.

This is considered an investment, so it is best to speak with someone who is a licensed cosmetologist and is familiar with this method of weaving. Instead of adding hair at random, they can advise as to what looks the most natural and suggest a care regimen. Taking this extra step is the best way to ensure that tresses will always look great.
