Mentally disabled people are those people whose minds are not normal resulting to some kind of impairment. They do things that normal people cannot do and this makes them abnormal in a way. The society does not recognize these people as a part of it hence many of them are neglected and abandoned on the streets where they survive from hand to mouth instead of putting them up in group homes for developmentally disabled adults.

Tough emotional times are some of the challenges the family members of these people go through in their bid to raise them and cater for their needs. It is tasking to monitor their movements and activities since when not monitored the violent people can pose a threat to the society members and so do other family members. The relatives have a lot of stress which can grow to a depression that kills at a faster rate than any other disease.

There are handful challenges that these mentally disabled people do go through in their lifetime and if not monitored the challenges cease when they face west. The challenges include scarcity of means of certain needs since they have no money to meet the needs, being not healthy, low hygiene and being denied jobs in different workplaces. With these challenges they face the reality of life in a hard way and they struggle to survive.

Looking deeper into the problems they face starting with poverty, we find very few mentally disabled people doing jobs that can earn them a living hence poverty strikes them. When poverty knocks at the door we find them moving here and there begging for food and money. Others do eat from the dustbins where normal people do throw away food remains and so on.

Employers always crave to hire the best people who are mentally fit and require little supervision in their work hence rejecting to hire the mentally challenged personnel. Mentally challenged people are a threat to the normal people because when annoyed they can become violent hence posing as a threat to the lives of their workmates. Supervising them too can be very hectic since they require to be monitored each and every time in order to deliver the required services hence becoming annoying to the employers.

There is need to build homes for these adults since they are brought together for one common goal. There is a necessity of putting them away from the street where they do face a lot of problems as rated. Lacks of basic commodities like enough food, water and shelter makes life unfair for them.

Skills which aids in survival are some of the few things that they do learn when put together in one home. They learn to sew different items and to make tables, chairs and so on which earns them a living. When these products are sold these homes do get monetary aid which helps to cater different needs and to pay the employees.

In conclusion we ought to be good members of the society by doing giving a helping hand to those who are in need. When we help the mentally disabled we shape their destiny in a way that is considered good by God. We should help without having in mind that the person you help will give a thanks in other way, the axe forgets but the tree recalls so goes the African idiom.
