Tons of people have given thought to the idea of landscaping, but never act on that thought for many reasons, such as, lack of landscaping knowledge, lack of funds, fear of doing a bad job, or simply because they are too tired. Fear not, because here are a few landscaping tips that are affordable and easy to implement.

To help you landscape your home garden, draw a sketch before beginning your plans. By sketching out the details of your space with accurate scaling, you will get a better perspective on what you can fit into your space, what types of plants or accessories are appropriate and the various layout options you can experiment with.

As you're paying attention to price, make sure you are considering quality just as closely. You don't want to pay the highest price for your materials and plants. However, remember that with cheaper prices sometimes comes lesser quality and selection. Cut corners where you need to in order to offset other purchases you might need to make as well.

If you are tired of seeing your beloved plants trampled by visitors, consider adding a footpath. Use brick, stone or wood to create a path that extends well beyond the boundaries of the area you wish to protect. A well-defined, wide path makes it clear which areas are safe as well as, which should not be trodden upon.

Consider using rain barrels to water your yard. Rain barrels are easy to add to any yard, and they serve the purpose of collecting rain water. You can then use that rain water to hydrate your lawn, and plants. This is an easy way to save on the cost of watering plants, and it is an environmentally friendly option too.

Plan a landscape that will look good throughout the year. You should choose plants and trees that will bloom at different times. For example, some plants may bloom in spring or summer, while pine trees or other evergreen trees can help add color to your yard in winter. A thorough knowledge of plant varieties is the best way to accomplish a landscape design that is impressive at any time of the year.

Spending less is not always the right thing to do. There are many places to buy discount supplies, but the quality is often questionable. If you are a novice landscaper, it would be to your benefit to go to a specialty store; even though it may be more costly, you can get plenty of advice, and your supplies will be guaranteed.

Before you begin any landscaping project, it is important to check for any county codes or rules you may need to follow. For example, there are certain plants and heavy objects that will not be allowed on top of a septic drain field. A simple check with the county can locate the drain field and help you avoid disaster!

As stated before, people often think about landscaping, but for many reasons, decide not to do it, whether it is because they can't afford to, or are just too tired. These tips can change all that, because they offer simple ways to do landscaping, without using all of your money.
