Twitter Marketing - Is It A Great Way To Grow Your List?

Programs to automate Twitter marketing were being greatly promoted a couple of ago. It was thought that you could use Twitter as an effective way to build a list of potential customers for your products or services. Nevertheless, how much of a bang for your buck do you get from any of these programs that were pushed at us to improve our gross sales? We will talk about Twitter marketing and whether or not it is worth your time and expense as part of your online marketing tactic.

Anxious to raise my product sales, I went ahead and got started on Twitter marketing to create a large list of followers hoping to turn them into purchasers. I ended up buying and joining programs that would get me followers and programs that would essentially promote my products for me. By the time I was done, I'd spent money on something like eight programs to perform some of the grunt work involved in Twitter marketing.

The first software I bought allowed me to automatically follow people in the hopes that they would then do the same and follow me. Next there was the program that would un-follow people who were not following me. This way I could be following other people who might follow me reciprocally. Along with some other tools that are not really worth bringing up, I invested in a program that would automatically take my blog posts and automatically Tweet them as soon as they were published on my blog.

And when I started using all of these tools the results seemed to be astounding as they all did precisely what they said they would do. Nonetheless, my exhilaration was quickly crushed when I realized that I wasn't pulling in any money. I would post to my blog 10 times a day and those blog posts would be shown directly on Twitter just like they should. Then I found a way to have all the blog entries done for me automatically, thinking that the more posts I would have the more people who would see them.

The results of my Twitter marketing efforts are: Employing this strategy over three years generated almost ten thousand people following me on Twitter. You might be very delighted to gain that number of followers, but there's more to come. During those three years I had affiliate links to my products on more than fifteen thousand posts in my Twitter account.

And that was the only advertising that I did for that blog, I opted not to even ping the posts to see just what Twitter could do for me. Just how 'good' it was quickly became evident: after 3 years only two affiliate sales generated $46.74 plus a whopping $9.10 for Adsense. With only 2 - 4 visits each day coming from Twitter, maybe this is not surprising.

Even with close on 10,000 Twitter followers and using software automation, it seems that this is not enough to generate money marketing with Twitter. As a matter of fact, in the last 3 years I have not even generated enough money from that blog to pay for the Twitter programs that I had paid for. There could be other effective means of marketing on Twitter, but from my experience, using automatic software tools is not one of them.
