The back can be divided into three major portions, that is, the upper, middle, and lower section. The lower section is also called the lumbar area. This part if composed of various components and it serves a huge number of functions. For instance, it offers structural support to the entire body, enables movement, and protects certain tissues in the body. When in search of Back Pain Loveland should be given priority.

The anatomy of the back is comprised of a bony lumbar spine, discs, ligaments, spinal cord and nerves, muscles. Internal organs, and the skin. The bony lumbar spine refer to the vertebrae, and between each two vertebrae is a disc that serves to cushion the structure from stress forces. Ligaments and muscles bind flesh onto the vertebrae and other organs. There are also abdominal and pelvic organs in this area.

Pain in the back is normally as a problem in any of the parts found in this section. Pain in this section is commonly as a result of nerve irritation, lumbar strain, bony encroachment, lumbar radiculopathy or other conditions specific to bones and joints. A stretch injury to the ligaments, muscles, and tendons is registered as a lumbar strain. Such stretches are characterized by tears which are microscopic to the tendons, muscles, and ligaments.

The level to which the microscopic tears occur is dependent on the source of the lumbar strain. One of the major causes of severe back pains is lumbar strain. There are a number of causes of the lumbar strain including overuse, improper use or trauma of the back area. Any injury caused to soft tissues that spans for up to several days or weeks is regarded as acute. If the same injury persists for up to several months it is regarded as chronic.

Lumbar strain is more commonly observed in people who are in their 40s. Although more cases are reported among people above 40 years of age, the problem can also happen to anybody at any age. The main symptom of lumbar strain is localized pain that the patient feels in the lumbar area. The ache may be triggered by engaging in an activity that stressed components of the lumbar area.

How severe the ache feels ranges from mild to severe. If one visits a doctor, the diagnosis made will be based on the history of symptoms the patient has been having and the location of the ache. X-ray is usually not done unless the doctor thinks that the cause of the ache may be bone abnormalities. In that case, x-ray is meant to exclude bone abnormalities as the cause of the ache.

There are a number of ways to treat lumbar strain with one of the ways being taking enough rest. Rest is crucial to prevent the lumbar area from being re-injured. Prescription of medication may be for the purpose of relieving muscle pain and spasm. Other treatment options include local heat application and massage.

After the acute episode passes, the patient will need to exercise the back in order to strengthen the muscles in that area. There are also several home remedies that one can use to get rid of this problem. Doctors can offer both formal treatment as well as home remedies.
