Private investigators are persons who does investigatory law works and hired by groups or individuals. Meet the basic qualifications which starts with being a citizen or legal resident of US and is eighteen years old at least. Two years is also required for relevant experience which could be obtained through being an agency intern.

Because having an experience for two years first is a requirement then most applicants are applying for internship. Class CC license is required for this by undergoing professional training for forty hours which first should be completed. Diplomas are given out by schools offering this training program to those who completed them and others take college degrees for furthering their career chances.

One year of the two year experience required could be substituted by a year of college coursework in criminal justice, criminology or law enforcement. Firearms training for 28 hours is needed for those who have to carry concealed firearms. After this then you can start being an intern of a licensed PI from Florida and fulfill your requirements.

Take the state examination testing your knowledge regarding legal responsibilities and business practices on being a PI. There are eight licensing offices all over the state which can be called to have your appointment for examination set. The exam would usually take two hours and the results would be known after two weeks and sometimes more.

After you passed the exam then apply for your Class C licensure by completing the application form and attaching a recent photo of yourself. Include documents confirming your completion of every necessary requirements such as your training, internship and exam score. Set of fingerprints must be included as well as your payment for all the fees.

If you need to carry a concealed weapon in performing your job properly then apply for Class G license that is statewide. Include certificate which shows you finished the mandatory firearms instruction, your photograph, fingerprint information and health certificate. But if you pass this with your application for PI licensing then you only need one set of your fingerprints.
