When folks have had their heat broken or they have been betrayed, it can be difficult to move on. Learning how to restore the love in your heart is the first step you have to look at. This will help you to get over past hurts and look forward at a brighter future. It is not easy. It does not happen overnight, and it takes a great deal of effort.

However, when you don't trust others, you will find that you are not able to connect with anyone on a deeper level. Being open and honest is definitely a risk, but it allows you to let go and be yourself. If you don't take that risk, you will find that you may become more isolated. You may become lonely, depressed and anxious.

It is important to talk about this because it is important that there is a connection. Sometimes it is difficult for the person to trust anyone. It can be something that they just won't do. They may not want to open up because this is what makes them vulnerable. They may prefer to forget about the past hurts in their life.

Not only do you need to trust others, but you have to learn to trust yourself. You may have made mistakes in the past. You may be blaming yourself. You may be feeling ashamed of yourself. Sometimes people feel ashamed of themselves. However, this is not something that is called for. It is a behavior that was forced upon them.

These are underlying feelings that need to be addressed. You can look at the previous relationship and move onto the next. However, if you don't deal with these underlying emotions, you will never be able to heal. You will never be able to have a healthy relationship. You will suffer with communication skills and will possibly bottle up your emotions.

The first thing you need to do is to be able to love yourself. This is something that can be difficult to do for the average person. They may be thinking that past hurts were their fault. There may be a sense of shame involved. Trusting others can be difficult. However, this can come with time when you are working with the right type of therapy.

You may have to look back at the underlying reasons for the past hurts. It can relate to a childhood which was dysfunctional. Sometimes clients may have been abused. Emotional abuse, for example can play a big impact on one's life. When someone has a more intimate relationship, they may struggle with this.

Realize that when you don't trust others and when you don't open up, you won't develop any relationships. You may have had a difficult relationship in the past, and it is challenging stumbling over this hurdle. However, one also needs to realize that in order to love, you have to take the risk.
