Most Pressing Problems With Public Education

The world is full of people from all walks of life. These people are easily being placed into boxes, too, as discrimination is fast becoming rampant in almost all parts of the world. The world is always handed out in a silver platter to those who are rich, powerful, and brainy. The elite enjoy the best of everything, while the average guy has to work his buns off to survive from what little options he is being presented with.

Discrimination is still a thing today as it was before the advent of all the technological advancements. The good things go to those who are privileged. The not so good are shared among the people who are not displaying so much potential. It is in times like these, too, that quality education has become an adamant must. Parents work hard to send their kids to better schools, because they cannot afford to jeopardize the future of their children by getting them all entangled in the different problems with public education.

In the general sense, education is a form of learning where the knowledge, skills, and habits of a group of individual are passed on to successors by way of teaching, training, and sometimes even exhaustive research. It frequently takes place with the guidance of an individual deemed to be more knowledgeable, though some cases are autodidactic in nature. Experiences that have a profound effect in the formation of an individual is even considered to be something educational.

It is only considered effective when the student is able to connect everything he has learned into real life scenarios. There are even so many levels to be completed, each deemed appropriate to a certain set age bracket. Preschool, primary, secondary, tertiary, and on the job training often encompass these set levels. Private and public forms are also available.

Since every citizen has the right to education, public or state schools abound the country. These are academies mandated or offered to learners, free of charge. They are often funded in whole or in part by taxation. Sometimes, non government groups also extend a helping hand to such institutions.

But, due to many reasons, such learning environments are not able to function in accordance to the purpose with which they are built. Qualified graduates are dwindling in numbers, and majority of the graduating class are allowed to leave a stage forever even though they have not really learned what is expected from their level. Such graduates become not too good additions to the work force in the future.

One of the reasons that the system is failing is often pointed out to the lack of cooperation by most family units. Lack of parent involvement is a very serious problem. Since the parents are the first teachers, they are also expected to be involved in the learnings of their offspring. The school is actually just a extension of the home, and not a baggage counter where you can leave your t6hings for a while and come back for them later.

Another dilemma is the lack of desire to learn by the children. They inhibit any knowledge to penetrate them. They see school as a necessary evil they have to endure.

Finally, poverty is also considered a contributory factor. Some hardly finish studying because they have to work. Even if schools are now rendered for free, there are still some expenditures needed to be able to send a child to school.
