Don't Let Moving Stress You Out

For those who have are looking to purchase a home for sale in Fredericksburg or perhaps a home for sale in Texas Hill Country, you might be a bit overwhelmed with all the issues surrounding finding a home, obtaining a loan and working through escrow. The thought of moving chores might be more than you can handle thinking about, but the following tips can make moving much easier.

Your first step is to hire a moving company, unless you plan on completing the move yourself. If you don't wish to use professionals, you still probably need to reserve a truck for your moving day. If you go with a company, get several quotes and never choose a mover unless they actually come to your home and assess what needs to be moved and then provide you with a solid estimate of how much the move will cost.

Simultaneously while looking for a mover, you need to be packing up your stuff. This is a big job, so start as early as possible. Pack up everything you don't have to have to get through the day. After all, knickknacks and framed pictures are nice, but you don't use them so pack these first. Pack up books, pack up CDs and DVDs and extra towels, sheets and clothing you don't use often.

One of the most important elements of packing is to complete this process in an organized fashion. This means each box should have a proper label written on it. You can even assign a different color for each room in the new house. For instance, every box with green ink written on it goes to the kitchen, red goes to the family room, etc. You also should write the name of the room on the box and a brief description of the contents.

There are so many other tasks to deal with and it is very hard to recall everything you have to do, so to ensure that you don't forget something important, it's best to create a big list with all of the tasks placed in categories. You also can add notations as to when each project or task must be completed.

Your list should include escrow tasks, packing tasks and other important jobs. For instance, you need to deal with turning utilities off at the old house and on at the new house. If you are moving out of the area, you might need to acquire school records, medical records and transfer prescriptions. You also need to put in a change of address order with the post office and begin permanently changing the address for anyone who sends you a bill. This includes magazine subscriptions, credit card companies, health insurance paperwork and anything else you can remember. The forwarding order from the post office will only last a few months, so call or go online to update your addresses.
