A Camping Party That Kids Will Love

A party is always a bit more exciting if it has a theme and this is especially true for children's parties. If you want to host a kid's event outside, one option that is sure to please is to plan a party with a camping theme. Pitch tents, cook up traditional camping foods, tell spooky stores, gaze at the stars and do it all from the comfort of the backyard.

Camping food is already pretty kid-friendly; after all mostly you simply grill hot dogs and hamburgers. For people with a fire pit in their yards, supervise the kids while the roast their own hot dogs. If no pit is available, simply use your camping stove or barbecue grill. Another option would be to have kids customize their own foil packet dinners like you might do while camping. Another option is a chili dinner. Cook up the chili in a large pot and keep in warm on the camp stove. Cut open small corn chip bags, ladle on some chili and top with shredded cheese. Kids will love eating dinner right out of the chip bag and clean up is a breeze.

When one thinks about camping desserts, roasting marshmallows and making s'mores instantly spring to mind. While you can certainly do this, it might be more fun and easier to simply order a gourmet chocolate pizza from Chocolate Pizza Company. One of their top-selling pizzas is their signature Campfire Pizza, which is a blend of milk or dark chocolate and chunks of crispy graham crackers and chewy mini marshmallows topped with a drizzle of white chocolate. This unique chocolate treat will elevate your camping party into something truly special. It even is shipped directly to you inside a genuine pizza box which the kids will love.

There are plenty of great outdoor games to consider when planning a camping party, and a nature scavenger hunt might be a great way to get the party started. Have the kids work in pairs or teams and find items such as a twig, a feather, a tiny pebble and other items easily found in your yard. You can even go on a hike around the neighborhood to find items for your scavenger hunt. Other fun games include old favorites such as a ring toss, a sack race, bocce ball and other backyard games.

Sleeping in tents is a highlight of the part and you can set up tents that hold just a few kids or perhaps just set up one or two big tents. Children can bring their own sleeping bags or you can just use blankets and pillows. Lay out towels or blanks in one area where everyone can sit and eat and tell spooky stories and check out the stars. If you have a telescope, bring that outside for the children to enjoy and if you aren't an expert astronomer, there are phone apps that can help you point out objects in the nighttime sky.

Every themed party needs some decorations and for a camping party, think about the items you bring camping. Lanterns are not only a helpful source of illumination, they double as a decoration. You can place your food and chocolate pizzas on top of a table decorated with a checked cloth. Tins cans can be used to hold silverware for a rustic look. Place some teddy bears on an outside chair next to a sign that says "Don't Feed the Bears." There are even novelty string lights that you can hang here and there that are tiny little camping lanterns or you could use owl string lights, dragonfly string lights or just a good old set of clear tree lights can be used for a bit of extra charm.
