Should We Let Our Children Play With Fashion Dolls?

If you've read any of my previous articles you know that I'm just a guy who has a website that features dolls. No, I'm not into dolls. I just like internet marketing and I discovered this to be a good, but untapped niche in online marketing. And, because I don't want to pretend to be something that I'm not, I write articles about dolls from my point of view; a man who has learned quite a lot about dolls, giving advice to others who know less than I do.

So, today I was researching Monster High Dolls in order to add a section for them in my online doll store. This is a routine for me. I pick a type of doll, research them, write an article and them add the products. But, after looking at the pictures of these dolls, I was taken aback. They're like Bratz Dolls. They look like little street walkers. At best, they look like young girls trying to look sexy or slutty while dressing like horror characters. You know, like how young girls on Halloween don't really want to look scary. They really want to use the day as an excuse to dress sexy. But, these look like little girls so it's pretty alarming.

You know, I don't have a problem with fashion dolls as a whole. In fact, these types of dolls can be great. Barbie dolls are fashion dolls. And, while some people have an issue with the bodies of these kinds of dolls, at least they have some taste and class. Some of these newer fashion dolls are making these girls look like something very unnatural and definitely not a way that dads would approve.

Have you ever seen one of these dolls? Bratz dolls are the epitome of them. They look like little girls who have been made up to look little prostitutes. They put a lot of makeup on them to accent their large eyes, put them in very short skirts and very high heels. It's the kind of look that if you saw your daughter wearing it, you'd make her march right back to her room and change.

Parents, why are you buying these things for your little girls? Do you want them to emulate this look in any way? I doubt it. So, why are you doing it? If you stop, then the manufacturers will stop making them. Seriously, it's that simple. Just say no to the doll.
