Bus Wraps & Gainesville's Potential Electronic Movement

From bus wraps to billboards, it's clear that there are many ways for a company to get their message across to the public. It's clear that they work very well, too, given the fact that they can gain tremendous exposure over the course of time. With that said, though, is it possible that a new location is set to incorporate billboards in the electronic sense? Judging by a recent story that had come to my attention, it's likely that Gainesville, Georgia will be the next area.

The Gainesville Times posted an article that spoke about the potential inclusion of electronic billboards. Real estate representative Tim Hill offered more information on the matter, making it a point to say that every billboard - provided the idea goes through - would be able to showcase up to six advertisements, each being given ten seconds of exposure in rotation. While there were many points that were brought up in the article, one of the most prominent that I have seen was the potential of them becoming distractions.

As you can probably imagine, electronic billboards could potentially throw off the concentration of drivers. As a result, there are certain methods that will prove to be more beneficial than others, as companies like JMR Graphics would be able to support. Unlike the inclusion of bus wraps, for example, electronic billboards may prove to be too distracting and the reason for this is because of how bright they are. As you can imagine, the overall functionality of the billboards in question has to be strong.

It's important to note that these billboards can be managed in terms of how bright they are. While it's understandable that they will stand out more during the evening due to the lack of natural light, said brightness is not required during the daytime nearly as much. Technology has grown leaps and bounds, though, as the article mentioned. What this means is that the advancements which have been seen throughout the years are ones which should, in theory, help to make these billboards stand out even more.

While it goes without saying that billboards could be put to use for advertising purposes, I'd like to think that there are many others to consider. After all, the promotion of wares is only one aspect to consider; it is very possible that the feed could shift in order to project urgent news to the masses. Perhaps something as unexpected as a sudden change in weather could be told about. For this reason, I have no doubt that Gainesville will benefit from the inclusion of these billboards.
