Talking of an architectural salvage Dallas homeowners refer to them as antique materials removed from old homes and building that are facing demolition. If you have a vintage home and you probably want to replace windows, doors and other elements, finding the right part for replacement can be quite challenging. However you can use salvage parts to match the design and style of your old home. The materials that have been salvaged can be used to enhance various types of exterior and interior decoration. Take for example a reclaimed door, following the below steps you can make a great garden potting bench.

The first step would be to purchase the old door from your local store. Any passage door would work but preference should be given to an interestingly detailed door. One should ensure that the entire door is made of solid wood.

After purchasing the door of your choice, you can now make a 3 inches wooden frame from its side and width. The depth of the potting table will be made from the 3 inch side. Depending on the working area you want to construct, you should modify the depth to the size you desire.

The frame should then be fixed preferably using screws at the desired height of the worktable. The door should now stand to figure out the height of the work table, you then mark the height and screw the frames into place. Ensure to give it a good support using two rows of screws fitted six inches apart from one another.

Measure the height of the door carefully by keeping it straight while leaning on a wall. Then you should cut two wood pieces which should be 2 by 4 inches to use them as the front legs of the bench. Screw the legs on the frame of the potting bench each at the front corner. Use a set of two screws to fix the legs on each side that is the front of the leg and its side.

At this point, keep the bench at a standing position to ensure that it is able to support itself. Then cut wood pieces of the measurement 1 by 6 inches. Ensure that they fit well the depth of the new table right from the front all the way to the back of the frame. Once you have done that, fix these pieces into the potting bench tabletop. If at all they do not create a good work space, then try adjusting the spacing between them.

After you are satisfied with the work you have done, you can paint the potting table. This is a finishing process which plays a key role in beautifying your compound. If you wish, you can also add shelves or hooks to hang your garden tools or anything you want.

Beside such projects, architectural salvage Dallas materials have been used in the improvement of modern homes. This is a good way of making good use of construction materials from old homes and buildings that are faced with demolition. Using these materials will help you save on cost.
